Brazilian Butt LifT in Augusta, GA

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a fat transfer procedure that reshapes and enhances the buttocks using liposuction to remove fat from the waist, back, or thighs, then purifying and grafting it to add natural volume and lift. At Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery in Augusta, GA, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Troy Austin performs every BBL personally in our accredited on-site surgical suite off River Watch Parkway—using safe, subcutaneous-only fat placement to sculpt a fuller, natural contour.

Your own fat. Your own curves.

Performed in Augusta by a double board-certified plastic surgeon — no implants, no outsourcing, no shortcuts.

Because the procedure both removes fat from one area and adds it to another, a BBL delivers two changes in a single surgery: a slimmer, more defined waistline where fat is harvested, and fuller, rounder curves where it is placed. The goal is proportion — a silhouette that suits your frame rather than an exaggerated one.

A traditional BBL does require enough fat to harvest from your own body. If you don’t, we also offer Alloclae — an option that’s perfect for individuals without sufficient donor fat, and one that’s commonly performed while you’re awake.

How a Brazilian butt lift differs from a butt implant

Buttock implants use silicone devices placed within or beneath the gluteal muscle. A BBL uses only autologous tissue — your own fat — so there is nothing artificial to shift, rupture, or require future replacement. Fat transfer also allows far more precise sculpting, because Dr. Austin can add volume in specific layers and regions rather than working around a fixed implant shape.

Who performs the procedure

Every Brazilian butt lift at Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery is performed personally by Dr. Austin in the practice’s QUAD A–accredited surgical suite off River Watch Parkway in Augusta. BBL outcomes and safety are closely tied to surgical technique and facility standards, which is why the procedure is never delegated.

The BBL procedure

Gentle liposuction removes fat from the areas you’d most like slimmed — typically the abdomen, flanks, and lower back.

The harvested fat is processed and purified so only healthy, viable fat cells are prepared for transfer.

Dr. Austin places the fat in precise layers to build volume, lift, and a contour that suits your frame.

The benefits of a BBL

Slims the waist, flanks, and back while it enhances your curves.

Nothing artificial — just refined, proportional shaping.

The fat that takes is permanent when you keep a stable weight.

Is a BBL right for you?

The best candidates share a few things in common. In a private consultation, Dr. Austin will review your goals, health, and donor fat and tell you honestly whether a Brazilian Butt Lift is the right choice — or whether something else would serve you better.

You’re a great candidate for a BBL if you:

Not a candidate yet?

If you’re still losing weight, don’t have enough donor fat, or want to avoid surgery altogether, Dr. Austin may recommend waiting, a Sculptra-based non-surgical option, or a different body-contouring procedure. He will tell you plainly which applies — and will not operate on a patient he doesn’t believe will get a good result.

Confidence that carries

Most patients return to desk work within one to two weeks, wearing a compression garment and using a cushion to stay off the treated area at first. Swelling eases over the weeks that follow, and your final shape settles over the coming months.

What the first three months look like

Every patient heals differently, but most Brazilian Butt Lift recoveries in our Augusta practice follow a predictable arc.

Weeks 1–2: Back to desk work

Most patients return to a desk job within one to two weeks. Bruising fades, and you’ll feel noticeably more mobile. Continued compression and cushion use.

Days 1-7: Rest & Protect

Compression garment worn continuously. No sitting directly on the buttocks — a BBL cushion is used for any seated time. Soreness and swelling peak. Short walks are encouraged.

Months 3-6: Final Shape

The transferred fat that survives has established its blood supply and is permanent. Residual swelling resolves and your final contour is visible.

Weeks 3-6: Easing Back In

Sitting restrictions relax on Dr. Austin’s guidance. Light activity resumes, then gradually heavier exercise. Swelling continues to settle and shape begins to emerge.

Because technique is the whole thing.

An Augusta native who trained in the cosmetic-surgery mecca of Palm Beach, Dr. Troy Austin is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with a particular focus on body contouring and fat transfer.

Because BBL safety depends on technique and setting, I perform every procedure myself in our accredited surgical suite. It's the standard that matters most.

Brazilian Butt Lift FAQs

How long does a Brazilian Butt Lift last?

Although the results from a Brazilian butt lift can take a few months to fully develop, once they do, they will last for years. In fact, many patients enjoy BBL results that last several years. An exact timeline is difficult to predict, as the specific duration of your results will depend on your lifestyle habits, genetics and other factors.

How long does BBL surgery take?

The BBL surgery typically takes between two and four hours to perform. The procedure requires this amount of time because it involves multiple surgical techniques; both liposuction for removing fat from the desired area of the body and the injection process during which that fat is transferred to the buttocks.

How should I sit after a BBL?

It is important to avoid sitting directly on the buttocks following the BBL procedure, as the treatment area will be sensitive, and any excess stress can impact your results. You can use a special cushion to minimize the pressure on the treatment area when sitting. Otherwise, sitting should be kept to a minimum, and patients are encouraged to instead lay on their stomach or their sides.

Should I lose weight before a BBL?

Considering that your body fat is used to perform the BBL procedure, it is actually recommended that you are a few pounds over your ideal body weight prior to your BBL procedure. This ensures that you have enough fat to transfer to the buttocks. Following your procedure, we can help you develop dietary and exercise habits to maintain your results and your ideal body weight.

Do you lose weight after a BBL?

During the Brazilian butt lift procedure, fat is removed from one area of the body before being injected into the buttocks. Not all of the fat removed for the procedure will survive the injection process, which means you may experience a net loss in body fat. While this can result in weight loss, any weight loss experienced will be very minor. The BBL procedure is not intended to be a weight loss treatment.

How much do I have to weigh to get a BBL?

There is no minimum weight requirement for a BBL. Instead, your candidacy will be determined based on your amount of body fat and your treatment goals. Generally, BMI can be a good indicator of whether you are an appropriate weight for treatment, although it is not a foolproof method. Patients with a BMI ranging from 23 to 30 are typically good candidates for the procedure, although each patient will need to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Does a BBL last forever?

The BBL procedure is performed with your natural body fat, which will last for many years once transferred to the buttocks. For this reason, patients can enjoy results that last for many years or even longer. However, the longevity of these results will also depend on a patient’s lifestyle following treatment. Changes in weight and the natural aging process can affect your BBL results over time.

How painful is a BBL surgery?

BBL surgery is performed with general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. With this anesthetic technique, patients will remain safe and comfortable throughout the BBL surgery. You can expect some discomfort during the recovery period, particularly in the first week or two following the surgery. Fortunately, this pain can be effectively managed by resting, using the prescribed medications and over-the-counter pain relievers, and following your recovery guidelines.

Is BBL a dangerous surgery?

A BBL, when performed by a qualified and experienced surgeon like Dr. Troy Austin of Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery, is a perfectly safe surgery. Before treatment, we’ll evaluate your health status to ensure you are an optimal candidate for a safe treatment. Furthermore, by following your recovery guidelines and protocol, patients can enjoy a safe and rewarding recovery from their BBL surgery.
