Breast Augmentation

Fuller, balanced, unmistakably you.

Breast augmentation increases the size, restores lost volume, or improves the shape and symmetry of the breasts — using a silicone implant or a transfer of your own fat. At Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery, Dr. Troy Austin performs it as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia, usually in one to two hours, with most patients back to desk work within a few days.

Board certified

Dr. Austin is certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery — a distinction not every surgeon in the CSRA holds.

Your surgeon

One named surgeon, start to finish.

At many practices you meet one surgeon and are operated on by another. With Dr. Austin, the surgeon who plans your breast augmentation is the surgeon who performs it — every time. An Augusta native, he returned home after years in the cosmetic-surgery mecca of Palm Beach, Florida.

He is double board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, completed his plastic surgery fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia and his general surgery residency at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans.

I will never steer you toward a technique because it's the one we market. We start with your anatomy and your goals. Dr. Troy Austin

Your options

Two honest paths to fuller breasts.

There is no single best breast augmentation — there is the best one for you. Dr. Austin starts with your anatomy and goals, then walks you through the two ways to add volume: a breast implant, or a transfer of your own fat with Beautifill®.
Choosing your implant

The four decisions behind your result.

If implants are right for you, four choices shape the outcome — and Dr. Austin guides each one, often with sizers you can try on beneath a fitted top so the decision is based on your frame, not a catalog.

1. Material — silicone or your own fat

Silicone gel is the most popular choice by far. Today’s highly cohesive “gummy bear” gel closely mimics natural breast tissue and holds its shape, with the softest feel and the least rippling — valuable for slimmer patients. If you would prefer to avoid an implant, fat transfer uses your own tissue for a natural, modest increase, and Dr. Austin does not offer saline implants.

2. Profile — how far the implant projects

Profile controls how far the implant projects for a given width. Lower profiles read subtle and wide; moderate profiles balance width and projection; high and ultra-high profiles create a fuller, more dramatic upper breast. The right profile depends on your chest-wall width as much as your taste.

3. Placement — under the muscle

Dr. Austin places breast implants under the muscle (submuscular) — the approach he trusts for the most natural, lasting result. Positioning the implant beneath the muscle means a lower risk of visible scarring, clearer mammograms, and a better fit for thin frames — with less rippling, softer upper-breast slopes, and an overall softer, more natural look.

4. Incision — where the scar is hidden

Dr. Austin most often uses the inframammary fold incision, tucked into the natural crease beneath the breast, where it heals into a thin, hidden line. Depending on your anatomy, an incision around the lower areola may also be an option.

What about fat transfer?

With Beautifill®, Dr. Austin removes unwanted fat from the abdomen or thighs, purifies it, and transfers it to the breasts — no implant, a natural one-to-two cup increase, and body contouring at the same time. Its high fat-cell survival rate means a single session goes further than traditional fat grafting.

Sizers, not guesswork. Dr. Austin lets you try implant sizes beneath a fitted top so your choice is based on your own frame.

Candidacy & recovery

What to expect — honestly.

Beyond the numbers above, the questions patients ask most are simple: Am I a good candidate, and what is recovery really like? Here is the honest answer to both.

Are you a candidate?

You may be an excellent candidate if you are in good general health, are a non-smoker (or willing to quit around surgery), have realistic expectations, and want to increase size, restore volume lost to pregnancy or weight change, improve symmetry, or simply feel more confident. If your breasts also sag significantly, Dr. Austin may recommend pairing augmentation with a lift — and he’ll tell you honestly, even when it means a bigger conversation.

Your recovery, week by week

  • Days 1–2: rest with tightness and swelling, well managed with medication; most patients shower the next day.
  • Days 3–7: many return to desk work and light activity in a supportive surgical bra.
  • Weeks 2–4: swelling settles; you ease back toward your routine.
  • Weeks 4–6: most return to full activity and exercise as implants settle into a natural position.

Financing is available through Cherry, CareCredit, PatientFi, and Alle Financing so qualified patients can spread the cost over time.

Good to know

Breast Augmentation Questions.

How much does breast augmentation cost in Augusta, GA?

At Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery, breast augmentation starts around $7,600. The final cost depends on whether you choose silicone or fat transfer, and includes your surgeon’s fee, anesthesia, facility, and implants. You’ll receive an exact quote at your consultation, and financing is available.

Breast implants are not necessarily lifetime devices. Many last 10 to 15 years or longer and do not need replacing unless there is a problem such as rupture or capsular contracture, or a change in what you want. Dr. Austin recommends periodic check-ins to monitor them over time.

Most patients describe tightness and soreness rather than sharp pain, especially in the first few days. Discomfort is well controlled with medication and typically eases within a week to ten days, with many patients back to desk work within a couple of days.

Dr. Austin uses silicone gel implants. The highly cohesive gel feels more like natural breast tissue and shows less rippling, which is why most patients choose it. He does not offer saline implants. If you would rather avoid an implant altogether, fat transfer uses your own tissue instead.

Yes. Fat transfer breast augmentation with Beautifill® uses your own fat — removed from areas like the abdomen or thighs and transferred to the breasts — for a natural one-to-two cup increase with no implant, and body contouring at the same time.

It depends on how much your breasts sag. If your nipples sit at or below the breast crease, an implant alone may not give a youthful shape, and a lift may be combined with augmentation. It’s the most important thing to assess in person — and Dr. Austin will give you a straight answer.

Many women breastfeed successfully after augmentation, particularly when the incision avoids the areola and the implant is placed under the muscle. No surgeon can guarantee it, so if future nursing matters to you, tell Dr. Austin — it can influence incision and placement choices.

Absolutely. Dr. Austin treats patients who travel in from across Georgia, the Carolinas, and the country. Start with a virtual consultation so your plan is ready before you arrive, and we’ll help coordinate your surgery and recovery around your travel.
