Arm Lift in Augusta, GA

An arm lift or brachioplasty is a safe procedure that tones and tightens the upper arms. At Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery, our skilled surgeons include board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Troy Austin and Dr. Manuel Medina, perform cosmetic procedures, such as arm lifts, for residents of Augusta, Evans, Columbia County, and nearby areas in Georgia. We are also happy to provide our services to residents of Aiken and the neighboring communities in South Carolina.

What is the goal of an Arm Lift?

An arm lift, medically known as brachioplasty, trims away hanging, flaccid skin from the upper arms that has lost elasticity due to aging, significant weight loss, or genetic conditions. The procedure produces a toned and streamlined contour rejuvenating the upper arm and achieving a more youthful and defined appearance.

How can an Arm Lift rejuvenate my appearance?

If you have developed flaccid “wings,” or deposits of excess fat and skin that hang loosely from the upper arms, an arm lift procedure can restore muscle tone and achieve tightness and youthful definition in the area, producing a more toned and streamlined contour that makes your arms look leaner and more youthful.

Who should consider an Arm Lift?

Any adult in overall good health who wants to rejuvenate their upper arms by tightening muscle and skin may be a good candidate for an arm lift. We recommend this procedure for individuals who are roughly within 10 to 20 pounds of their ideal weight. If you still have weight to lose, we recommend that you postpone this procedure until you are closer to your ideal weight, because ongoing weight loss may affect the results of the procedure. In men and women who maintain a healthy, stable weight, the results of an arm lift procedure will be permanent.

How is an Arm Lift performed?

Arm lift surgery is normally performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. It requires a hairline incision along the inside of the upper arm that may extend from the elbow to the underarm region through which Dr. Austin, or Dr. Medina will extract excess fat and tighten muscle tissue. The procedure takes one to three hours to perform, depending on the extent of your condition. Following the surgery, you must wear a compressive support sleeve to reduce swelling and optimize the healing process. You may choose to combine brachioplasty with liposuction to produce maximum sculpting and muscular definition in the upper arm.

Does Arm Lift surgery produce visible scars?

The arm lift procedure produces a faint hairline scar discreetly hidden on the inside of the upper arm, which is practically invisible when your arms are resting at your sides. Fortunately, in most patients, the scar will eventually fade away and become virtually invisible over time.

What can I expect during recovery after an Arm Lift?

We recommend that you assign someone to drive you home after surgery and provide basic home care for a few days while you recover. You may experience some soreness and swelling, and we recommend that you wear a compressive sleeve on the arms for a period of about four weeks. Most patients can resume non-strenuous activity within one or two days, but we recommend a gradual return to your normal activities after about four or five days. More strenuous activity may be resumed gradually and slowly after about four weeks. Our team will be on hand to provide post-op care instructions and to offer support and answer questions, addressing any concerns you may have during the recovery period.
